Fiona Xie Wan Yu! A Singaporean television actress.

Fiona Xie Wan Yu (simplified Chinese: 谢宛谕; pinyin: Xiè Wǎnyù; born January 24, 1982) is a Singaporean television actress.

Xie was spotted by a talent scout at the age of fifteen while was studying in St. Hilda's Secondary School. She modeled for numerous print and television commercials in Singapore and Hong Kong before joining MediaCorp Studios as a full-time artiste in 2001.

Xie made her acting debut as a nurse in the local hit drama series, Growing Up. Her convincing acting landed her one of her most recognizable roles in the sitcom, My Genie. In 2001, she won "Best Newcomer Award" at Mediacorp's Star Awards after just over a year in show business.

Of late, Xie has become known for her talents as a bilingual variety show hostess, in particular of the long-running series, City Beat. She has since hosted other variety shows, such as the photography-based "Say Cheez" for Channel 8, and introducing celebrities' favourite hawker foods in "Coffee Talk and Hawker Woks" for Channel 5. Recently she and actor Ben Yeo also hosted the travel show "Weekend Escapade".

In 2004, Xie made the news when she had to run with Jeanette Aw, Xiao Qiao and Felicia Chin, in bikinis, along the crowded Orchard Road for the drama series "The Champion". She later admitted in an interview that she wore another bikini top underneath, to prevent accidental exposure. That scene alone earned Fiona the nickname of "Boing Boing".

Besides her work as host and actress, Xie has also endorsed numerous products because of her popularity with the mainstream population. These range from Marigold juices to Osim massage products.

In 2005, Fiona was voted as sexiest woman for the "FHM Top 100 Sexiest Women Singapore" list, even though she had never posed for FHM before. She continued to be ranked among the Top 10 for the FHM lists in the next 3 years.

In 2006, Fiona attempted her first villain role as a spoilt diamond heiress in the drama series An Enchanted Life, starring alongside Yvonne Lim and Pierre Png. In December 2006, Fiona was identified as one of the most promising young actresses in the Singapore Entertainment Industry by leading local entertainment magazine I-Weekly and was hence labeled as one of the 七公主 (English: 7 Princesses).

In 2007, Fiona Xie took part in the second season of the Singapore Edition of Deal or No Deal, where her winnings would go to a selected charity organisation. The episode aired on November 22, 2007.

Fiona appeared in her second film project and first ever international film, "Rule #1", directed by local filmmaker Kelvin Tong. The film starred HK actors Ekin Cheng and Shawn Yue, and debuted in Singapore and Malaysia on 13 March 2008.

Fiona starred in a MediaCorp Channel 8 Mandarin drama titled "Just in Singapore" which has been airing since March 2008. She plays a kind-hearted tomboy who sells chicken wings at bazaars and sings ge-tai during the Lunar Seventh Month.

Fiona starred in a MediaCorp Channel 5 sitcom titled "Calefare", which starred Gurmit Singh, Benjamin Heng, Mastura Ahmad and Vadi PVSS. She played a calafare named Joleen Wee, a singer wannabe who actually cannot sing, and often expressed herself in terms of quotes like "eyes wide open", "laugh out loud" and so on.

Fiona Xie was originally slated to be in the Channel 8 2009 year-end blockbuster, Together. She would have been playing the second female lead, the biggest role that she has ever gotten. It was announced on 15 July 2009 that she has pulled out of Together because she has private matters to attend to. She made the news once again for the sudden disappearing act, which none of the local celebrities would dare to do. Although the exact reason behind this has yet to be determined, some of the co-stars provided hints that Xie had expressed discomfort in doing this role. Local artiste Eelyn Kok would eventually replace her role in Together. Xie is also the lead actress in her up-coming movie, 'Fist of Dragon" making it her 3rd movie. She is placed along the likes of other young actresses such as Jesseca Liu, Jeanette Aw, Joanne Peh, Rui En, Felicia Chin and Dawn Yeoh, widely known as the "Mediacorp 7 princesses".

On 2 September 2009, ChannelNewsAsia carried news reports that Fiona had quit MediaCorp, but that was later disputed by another news article.

Xie has been getting hosting jobs in brand new variety shows despite her disapperence from the local TV scene. She was selected to host the brand new variety show, Lodge with Me (我行我宿), which is set to air in May 2010, alongside with Felicia Chin, Rui En, and newcomer Kola Zhou.

On 6 December 2009, Fiona was the main feature for top-selling magazines 8 Days and I-weekly. In the interview, she revealed her reasons for leaving MediaCorp and what she had been busy with recently. She is currently based in Hong Kong and living with her boyfriend. In a recent interview with MediaCorp, the company expressed they are still optimistic in terms of having working relationships with Fiona in future. Fans of Fiona might still have a chance to see her on TV in the near future.

Denise Lorraine Keller ! A Singaporean model and a host for MTV Asia.

Denise Lorraine Keller is a Singaporean model and a host for MTV Asia. She was born in Singapore on March 24, 1982. She is of Eurasian ancestry, her father is German and her mother Chinese. She was educated at the German International School in Singapore and has one older sister, Nadine Keller.

At age 13, she was discovered in a shopping mall by a modeling scout and soon signed with a modeling agency.

Keller became Singapore's representative in Ford's Supermodel of the World finals in 2000, for which she won the title. Throughout her modeling career, she has been the face of countless TV and print commercial campaigns. Among the various TV shows she has hosted was the Ford Supermodel Singapore Finals in 2001.

By 2002, she had modeled everywhere from New York City to Hong Kong to Tokyo. And in that year, she got her biggest break yet when she was selected to be the female VJ for MTV Asia. She has hosted the past two MTV Asia awards and has interviewed rock, pop, and hip hop superstars from all around the world.

In 2005 Denise Keller took part in Singapore's second English language reality dating program Eye for a Guy 2. In this program several eligible bachelors pursued the affections of Ms. Keller in this "Bachelorette"-style program. While well received by critics and its viewers, Eye for a Guy 2 was plagued by low viewership throughout most of its run. This only changed during the final two episodes when Ms. Keller made her choice among the final two suitors, Howard Shan Lo and Wolfgang Gorny. Even then, the final episodes were dogged by controversy regarding 'leaked' photographs of Denise Keller and Wolfgang Gorny together in Bali. Detractors of the series accused these 'leaked' photos to be nothing more than a ploy to increase viewership of the series. Eye for a Guy 2 ended with Denise Keller choosing Wolfgang Gorny as the man who won her affections. Despite the low viewership of the series, Denise Keller was lauded as being a superior and more compelling bachlorette when compared to the first series' bachelorette, Rachel Lee.

Howard Lo was rumored to be tapped for the lead in an Eye for a Girl series but later denied these claims. To date there has been no Eye for a Girl series shown.

In September 2006, Keller and Dick Lee hosted a luxury lifestyle program shown in Singapore, entitled The Finer Side. This program featured the two hosts as they toured the glitzy and opulent side of Singapore and also featured candid chats with the city's rich, famous and powerful citizens regarding the extravagant lifestyles they lead.

Also in September 2006, Keller took a two-month sabbatical break in order to study theater arts at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City. Prior to this she traveled to New York City to cover the MTV Video Music Awards for MTV Asia.

Denise Keller is currently working as a VJ for MTV Asia.

In 2007 Keller served as Mastercard's Fashion Ambassador for the Singapore Fashion Festival. She interviewed some of the world's top models and fashion designers in this capacity. She repriced this role in the 2008 Singapore Fashion Festival. Keller was the star of Mastercard's 'Priceless' campaign in Asia Pacific. Also in autumn 2007, Keller was a spokesperson for Hong Kong's Luxury week.

In 2008, Keller was filmed as the host of Discovery Travel & Living's new series Passage to Malaysia

About Singapore Country And Singapore

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 137 kilometres (85 mi) north of the equator, south of the Malaysian state of Johor and north of Indonesia's Riau Islands. At 710.2 km2 (274.2 sq mi), Singapore is a microstate and the smallest nation in Southeast Asia. It is substantially larger than Monaco and Vatican City, the only other surviving sovereign city-states.
Before European settlement, the island now known as Singapore was the site of a Malay fishing village at the mouth of the Singapore River. Several hundred indigenous Orang Laut people also lived along the nearby coast, rivers and on smaller islands. In 1819, the British East India Company, led by Sir Stamford Raffles, established a trading post on the island, which was used as a port along the spice route. Singapore became one of the most important commercial and military centres of the British Empire, and the hub of British power in Southeast Asia.
During the Second World War, the British colony was occupied by the Japanese after the Battle of Singapore, which Winston Churchill called "Britain's greatest defeat". Singapore reverted to British rule in 1945, immediately after the war. Eighteen years later, in 1963, the city, having achieved independence from Britain, merged with Malaya, Sabah, and Sarawak to form Malaysia. However, Singapore's merger proved unsuccessful, and, less than two years later, it seceded from the federation and became an independent republic within the Commonwealth of Nations on 9 August 1965. Singapore was admitted to the United Nations on 21 September of that year.
Since independence, Singapore's standard of living has risen dramatically. Foreign direct investment and a state-led drive to industrialization based on plans drawn up by the Dutch economist Albert Winsemius have created a modern economy focused on industry, education and urban planning. Singapore is the 5th wealthiest country in the world in terms of GDP (PPP) per capita. As of January 2009, Singapore's official reserves stand at US$170.3 billion.

In 2009, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Singapore the tenth most expensive city in the world in which to live—the third in Asia, after Tokyo and Osaka.[13] The 2009 Cost of Living survey, by consultancy firm Mercer, has ranked Singapore similarly as the tenth most expensive city for expatriates to live in.The population of Singapore including non-residents is approximately 4.99 million. Singapore is highly cosmopolitan and diverse with Chinese people forming an ethnic majority with large populations of Malay, Indian and other people. English, Malay, Tamil, and Chinese are the official languages.
Singapore is a parliamentary republic, and the Constitution of Singapore establishes representative democracy as the nation's political system. The People's Action Party (PAP) dominates the political process and has won control of Parliament in every election since self-government in 1959

Singapore is a mixture of an ethnic Malay population with a Chinese majority, as well as Indian and Arab immigrants. There also exist significant Eurasian and Peranakan (known also as 'Straits Chinese') communities.
Cuisine
Singaporean cuisine is an example of diversity and cultural diffusion, with influences from Chinese, Indian, Malay and Tamil cuisine. In Singapore's hawker centres, traditionally Malay hawker stalls selling halal food may serve halal versions of traditionally Tamil food. Chinese food stalls may introduce indigenous Malay ingredients or cooking techniques. This continues to make the cuisine of Singapore a significant cultural attraction.
Local foods are diverse, ranging from Hainanese chicken rice to satay. Singaporeans also enjoy a wide variety of seafood including crabs, clams, squid, and oysters. One such dish is stingray barbecued and served on banana leaf with sambal or chili.
Amongst locals, popular dishes include bak chor mee, mee pok, sambal stingray, laksa, nasi lemak, chili crab and satay. All of these dishes can be found at local hawker centres around Singapore.

Tourism
Singapore is a popular travel destination, making tourism one of its largest industries. About 7.8 million tourists visited Singapore in 2006. The total visitor arrivals reached around 10.2 million in 2007. The Orchard Road shopping district is one of Singapore's most well-known and popular tourist draws. To attract more tourists, the government decided to legalise gambling and to allow two casino resorts (euphemistically called Integrated Resorts) to be developed at Marina South and Sentosa in 2005. To compete with regional rivals like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai, the government has announced that the city area would be transformed into a more exciting place by lighting up the civic and commercial buildings. Cuisine has also been heavily promoted as an attraction for tourists, with the Singapore Food Festival in July organised annually to celebrate Singapore's cuisine.
Singapore is fast positioning itself as a medical tourism hub — about 200,000 foreigners seek medical care in the country each year and Singapore medical services aim to serve one million foreign patients annually by 2012 and generate USD 3 billion in revenue. The government expects that the initiative could create an estimated 13,000 new jobs within the health industries.
Singapore is a melting pot of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Arabic communities. Tourists will see women with Chinese features wearing sarongs and Arabic dress, and these cultural aspects help make Singapore an unusual destination to visit.
Under the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), Wireless@SG is a government initiative to build Singapore's infocomm infrastructure. Working through IDA's Call-for-Collaboration, SingTel, iCell and QMax deploy a municipal wireless network throughout Singapore. Since late 2006, users have enjoyed free wireless access through Wi-Fi under the "basic-tier" package offered by all three operators for 3 years.
There are approximately 30,000 registered hotel rooms available in Singapore, and average occupancy is around 85%
